A fifteen-year-old boy has been judged to life imprisonment with a lowest duration of 16-year period for the homicide of another schoolmate the deceased during a midday recess.

Fatal School Incident

Mohammed Umar Khan pierced Harvey, also aged 15, in the cardiac area with a weapon at the city's learning facility in February.

The judge removed the identity protection restriction on the killer during the punishment phase at Sheffield Crown Court.

Relatives Reaction

The victim's mother said she felt "like a big load has been taken off my person" following the verdict.

The two youths had earlier argued over online platforms in the time prior to the lethal incident.

Caroline Willgoose remarked she was pleased the lowest period had been determined above the required minimum of fifteen years.

"My dad has been having cancer treatment through the legal process and he just couldn't continue any longer," she said.

Prior to the murder on the third of February, Khan and the deceased had taken different sides in a separate dispute between two other students.

Security footage from the day of the knife attack revealed the killer approaching Harvey in the school yard briefly after lunchtime.

Observers described a scene of "chaos", with people "running, yelling everywhere" during the violent event.

Court Process

In the court case, Khan stated he had not intended to cause death to the victim or cause him significant damage, asserting he could not recollect what had occurred.

The state maintained that he had "desired to show he was formidable" and "understood exactly what he was performing".

"You served as the instigator and... you proceeded in hurt and fury at what you viewed to be his disloyalty of your relationship," stated the court official during sentencing.

Aftermath

The school issued a message expressing that the pupil was "dearly missed every day by the whole educational community".

Law enforcement stressed the tragic consequences of carrying weapons, observing that a "instantaneous decision" can forever transform multiple futures.
