The Belarusian player finished the year with an impressive twenty-three to three Grand Slam win-loss record.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive season.

The 27-year-old secured four titles – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles title.

A Season of High Performance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine finals, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Achievements

Sabalenka ended the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and earned a record eleven million pounds in earnings.

She received almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a new level".

Additional WTA Award Winners

  • Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking a extended hiatus after the birth of her first child and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
  • Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after starting the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and rising to the eighteenth spot.
  • Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after capturing their second career Grand Slam title together.
  • Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after advancing to five finals.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz won three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
