The Reds Will Not Alter Offensive Approach In the Face of Recent Slump, Insists Head Coach Slot

The Dutch manager has stated that the Anfield decision-makers are aligned with his perspective regarding the poor performance streak and he refuses to compromise their attacking style in search of a solution. The head coach admitted that six losses in seven matches was unacceptable ahead of Aston Villa's visit.

Increasing Scrutiny Throughout Tough Spell

Slot accepted the scrutiny was intense before his makeshift team exited the Carabao Cup against Crystal Palace. However, he insisted that this urgency to stop the losing streak is not coming from the team's proprietors or football administration following a significant spending of nearly £450 million.

"They say similar things," commented the manager, whose squad will encounter Los Blancos in the European competition and play against the Citizens in the domestic competition.

Squad Quality Stays Unquestioned

Slot believes his team "possess an exceptional group if they are all fit and completely set for the fixture list". He said that the recent signings in footballers like the German international and the Swedish striker, who is probably unavailable again against Villa through fitness issues, had left the club "in an excellent position for the immediate prospects and the distant prospects".

Integration Challenges

When pressed on why his team were taking so long to gel, he replied: "That's not particularly helpful. 'Why, why, why?' I provide reasons and people say I'm making justifications. I can come up with several explanations why we are not winning as much or suffering defeats as we do but, as I always emphasize, there are never enough excuses to have a performance streak as we had now."

  • No matter if I could list multiple factors
  • When you are Liverpool you must avoid losses
  • Unfortunately six out of seven

Backline Performance

Only the Lancashire club (21) have conceded more clear opportunities from normal situations this season than Liverpool (nineteen). The league leaders, Arsenal, have faced two. Yet Liverpool's coach rejects the team has been overly exposed and maintains there is no reason to sacrifice his attacking principles for a cautious system after 10 games without a goalless performance.

"From my perspective we don't giving up numerous openings so I see no justification to change our playing style totally but we need to do better in preventing goals," he stated.

Recent Examples

"Against Manchester United, how many openings did we give up? Against Eintracht Frankfurt when we were 3-1 up, we hardly conceded a shot on target. In each fixture we have played so far we haven't conceded a lot of chances. Absolutely not. We do concede a slightly more than last season but that stems from us being trailing by a goal so you become more adventurous. But overall I don't feel that our issue is that we give up too many openings. Our challenge is we don't score the chances we create."
