E-commerce platforms featuring these four major platforms are presently facing scrutiny in the French Republic for the offence of enabling youngsters to access pornographic material on their websites, the French judicial authorities declared on this Tuesday.

The country's consumer protection agency had flagged the four firms to the legal authorities on Sunday after raising alarms about the marketing of childlike sex dolls on the Shein website in recent days.

The French judicial officials noted that the online services are being examined over violent, explicit or “undignified” messages that can be seen by young people.

One of the platforms asserted that it takes the matter extremely earnestly. Shein, Temu and Wish have also been contacted for their perspective.

Broader Inquiries and Platform Reactions

These platforms are furthermore facing probes over the dissemination of information involving minors that are of a explicit character, the office revealed.

The cases have been referred to the French minor protection office, the prosecution service noted. This office is an section of the law enforcement that supervises the safeguarding of minors.

AliExpress stated that the listings in concern violated its rules and were removed once it became aware of them.

"Vendors discovered to break or trying to bypass these policies will be sanctioned in line with our regulations," the platform stated in a statement.

On this Monday, Shein said it had prohibited the selling of any adult toys on its platform globally. The based in Singapore retailer also stated that it would ban indefinitely all vendor profiles involved in the illegal distribution of the minor-looking items and implement more rigorous safeguards on its website.

Consumer Watchdog Findings and Larger Scenario

The regulatory authority, the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control, had said that the sex dolls' listing details and grouping left "minimal uncertainty as to the illicit essence" of the products.

The investigation of the retailer occurs while the company, which was established in China, makes arrangements for the launch on Wednesday of its first fixed brick-and-mortar outlet in France.

Protesters have been observed gathered in near the French capital shop where Shein is set to unveil the store.

Shein plans to inaugurate shops in other France's department stores in cities such as these regional hubs.
