A highly anticipated trial experience will become available on Jan. 7, providing a substantial look into the game's beginning segments. Notably, any progress earned within this demo can be carried over directly into the complete game upon its eventual launch.

More Than a Straightforward Re-release: The Thorough Transformation

This title is a ground-up reimagining of the landmark 2000 RPG, originally released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. In a notable departure from other Dragon Quest remakes, such as the recently launched HD-2D iterations, this version adopts a unique three-dimensional art style. Environments have been crafted to look like detailed model sets, with characters featuring a delightful toy-like look.

  • Expanded Job Mechanics: One completely new job class was introduced for this remake. Furthermore, characters gain the option to master a secondary vocation, significantly expanding strategic options.

These alterations are aimed at mitigate one of the original title's common points of feedback: its considerable scope. That original main quest could easily take over 100 hours to finish. This reimagined edition was expressly designed to improve progression and reduce any filler.

Curious JRPG fans will be able to start experiencing the transformed world of Dragon Quest VII for themselves when the free trial becomes available on Wednesday, January 7th. Subsequently, the full game, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, is then set to release on 5th February 2026. It will be released on a wide selection of platforms, including Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
