The British heavyweight repeated his much-discussed comments about wanting to “kill” Jake Paul during a news conference in Florida on midweek.

The remarks were originally stated on the previous day when Joshua was questioned if he would show restraint against the social media star, responding that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.

The upcoming bout against the YouTuber-turned-boxer has sparked concern over safety concerns and the physical disparity between the two athletes.

Tyson Fury Labels AJ a “Disgrace”

Former titleholder The Gypsy King labeled Anthony Joshua a “disgrace” for his inflammatory rhetoric.

But Joshua, defended his stance: “This is what I do, we fight. We have a license that permits extreme violence.

“I'm sure many people don't understand it but this is what my job is. I just enjoy what I do. The outcome, happens - as long as my hand is held high, that's what's important, with all due respect.”

He stated, “That's just the mentality we have to have as warriors. I don't know if other fighters think that way. Maybe they're a bit more tame. The way my mind works. When you're in the ring, it's a dangerous thing. Everything can happen.”

“You hope your adversary leaves the ring in good health, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed knowing you just did your job. It was not personal.”

Paul's Fiery Response

Paul, a massive underdog in the fight as a natural cruiserweight, was equally combative in his response.

“This is a contemporary gladiator sport,” Paul declared. “I'm prepared. I want his most powerful punches. I want there to be zero excuses when it's all over. Let's kill each other.”

AJ will face Paul, 28, at Miami's arena in a fight many consider a significant mismatch, with some suggesting it should have been sanctioned as an exhibition bout.

The official fight will be fought over 8 3-minute rounds using standard 10oz gloves, with a specified weight limit for Joshua.

He Says He Was “Called In to Save” Boxing

Despite the graphic language used, Joshua said he has been “called in to rescue” boxing.

“They want me to stop the Jake Paul show and I understand it and that's why I have to carry boxing on my back in this fight,” he concluded.

The event also had more humorous moments, with Joshua laughing as Paul sang a nursery rhyme to him.

The final staredown passed without incident, with Paul striking a odd pose before Joshua stayed calm and lightly touched Paul's chain.

Both Fighters Deny Pre-Arranged Claims

The peculiar aspect of this fight has led to rumors about its legitimacy, including suggestions that he may be prohibited from scoring a knockout.

“There are no clauses in the agreement, AJ can attest to it. We're going to battle,” Jake Paul said.

The former champion, wearing a valuable chain, humorously remarked, “The only thing in the agreement that got my interest was the money.”

Paul has stated on his platforms that the fight earnings will be exceptionally high.

Paul first made his name as an online prankster, gathering a huge online audience.

He has never fought anyone of Joshua's pedigree but maintained that his opponent would not underestimate him.

“It's smart on his part,” Paul said. “This could possibly be, and will be, the greatest defeat of his life.”

It would undoubtedly leave an permanent mark on his legacy, but the athlete stated it would not mean retirement.

“I'd come back again, shake it off,” he remarked. “I will be main eventing again in a year or two. It is what it is. I'm a competitor in the game.”
